Covert Customs Restoration & Repair Policies
CHARGES & FEES
Shop labor rate is $85.00 per hour for Mechanical, Fabrication, Customizing & Repair. $59.00 for bodywork + $38.00 for cost of materials per hour.
A 3% fee will be added to payments made by credit or debit cards.
Vehicle storage is $150 per vehicle, per month, upon 30 day non payment of invoice. We ask that after your vehicle is completed and the bill is paid that you be as timely as possible about picking it up. We do not have the room to store work inside once repairs are done.
We no longer extend credit or purchase materials for customer projects or any large repair items in excess of $100.
$.85 per mile is charged for the cost of fuel and time spent driving to locate and/or pickup parts for projects. If we can tie multiple trips together for several customers then the cost will be divided between them evenly. If it works out that we are going somewhere on our own time then we will split the fee in half.
Restoration and large jobs:
If we are your choice to perform any major work or restoration project for you there will be a Sub Account setup with our bank (On-Point Credit Union), under our main account that will be put under your name. A deposit will need to be put into this account prior to us starting work on your vehicle and will reflect the type of work we will be doing and the initial cost of parts. If you want to put a limit on how much per month you want to spend this is a good time to discuss that so we can set things up accordingly, otherwise every week we will send you and invoice for the parts and labor from that period, money will be transferred from your account into ours and you will receive a balance sheet on your sub account accompanying the invoice. once the account falls below $500 you will need to repopulate that account by check, cash or online payment to continue work. After the last invoice is paid any left over funds will be refunded to you in the form of a check from our bank. We have found this to work well for past clients and for us, you get to see where your at, We get paid for our services and neither our customer or us gets to far apart from each other. It also helps speed things along considerably. You will also be contacted before any big purchase is made.
If you bring us a vehicle that is capable of moving under its own power but has a dead battery or is out of fuel the first thing we will do is put either or both in your vehicle, at your cost, so that it is movable without having to be pushed or towed around.
BILLING & PAYMENT
Billing is done on a weekly basis for all parts and labor rendered.
An invoice listing all fees and costs incurred for services rendered will be e-mailed depending on the billing cycle we establish when your project has started. Photographs will be included to reflect progress and/or problem areas of the car and it's components. We will be taking photos throughout the project/repairs. At the completion, if wanted, copies of all photos will be available to you. A printed invoice is also available.
Invoices are due within 5 days unless you are setup on a Sub Account system.
Invoices not paid after the 5 day period will result in a stoppage of work until paid in full.
***** IF YOU DO NOT MAKE A PAYMENT OTHER CUSTOMERS VEHICLES THAT ARE IN THE SHOP OR ON OUR SCHEDULE WILL BE PUT IN FRONT OF YOURS AND IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN THE SHOP YOUR VEHICLE WILL MOST LIKELY BE PUSHED OUTSIDE TO MAKE ROOM. WE HAVE A WAITING LIST ABOUT A YEAR OUT CURRENTLY WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS WAITING TO GET IN FOR WORK. IT COULD BE AWHILE BEFORE WE GET BACK TO YOUR VEHICLE.
Covert Customs LLC reserves the right to refuse to continue working on any car with repeated payment delays. If the invoice is not paid within 5 days, the customer will have 30 days from missed payment until storage fees are initiated at $150.00 per month.
Invoices are payable by cash, personal check, certified funds, wire transfer & credit card.
ESTIMATES FOR RESTORATION AND REPAIRS
It is impossible to estimate the exact cost of a restoration or the hours involved with it at any time during the project. Anyone giving you one is doing nothing more then taking a WAG at it. If we can give you an idea based off very similar cars/work from the past it is by no means a final price and is subject to change depending on the needs of the project or customer change requests. Restorations are performed as economical as possible without compromising the finished quality that we so proudly stand behind.

INSURANCE
Each customer provides their own insurance to cover the market value of the car. Proof of that insurance needs to be supplied at the time a car is delivered to our facility.
If you do not have insurance, please contact us and we will refer you to our recommended insurance companies
THE AFTERMARKET AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY AND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
After years of working on classic cars and specialty vehicles there are some things you can count on and some risks that come with owning classic cars and hot rods. We try to recommend what we feel are good products from good companies but anything can fail and no one gets everything right every time.
First, nothing ever fits as it’s advertised. The aftermarket industry while having come a long ways is still a very, very long way from what you get in a manufacturer vehicle. Lots of parts are made by people that have no mechanical background or real world experience working on cars. When parts are made they are usually mocked on a single vehicle and then maybe slotted to help fit but no 2 cars are alike. Most of the vehicles have also been altered or modified in the past also. The amount of time that can be involved with modifying these parts to fit a car or a car to fit the part can become costly sometimes and that cost is forwarded to the customer as we are not responsible for the manufacturing of the part or the cars condition.
Second, warranty parts only cover the part itself, usually just from defect for a limited time. They do not cover the labor time involved in removing, packaging, shipping and reinstalling the part when returned to us. Covert Customs does not accept any responsibility for faulty parts or cover any labor involved in the diagnosis or repair of such parts. Time spent diagnosing and repairing is billed to the customer. We will gladly provide you with the contact information for the company of a faulty part or something that doesn’t fit so that you may call them and address any complaint with them. If the fault was caused from installation by us then we will work with the customer to repair any problem up to covering the complete cost of the repair or some agreeable outcome between the 2 parties.
